What Happens To Your Heart On Meth

Canteras

The recent election of three of our players in the of the NBA draft, and in particular the complicated process that has led to the emergence of Ricky Rubio at No. 5 - has rekindled some debate on the correlation of forces on the professional basketball world the U.S. into a world-the European basketball, which if anything has been characterized in recent years Europe has been to spearhead the movement open borders, and apply it indisputable. The debate, if indeed there is, hopefully, I have summarized as high-level coaches Aito and Messina the concept "Europe can not be the quarry of the NBA."

First of all, let's review some facts: The recent
draft 13 players selected came from European teams. Of these, two young Americans ( Brandon Jennings and Patrick Beverley ) who have played in Europe for various reasons, three others-European -blooded not coming from their country of origin but in another basketball and economically more powerful: the Swedish Jerebco in Italy, the Netherlands Norel in Spain and Slovenia Preldzic in Turkey, and captured as a young African promise: the Congolese Eyenga as Norel, in Badalona.

Regardless of whether these or other end finally in the NBA someday, it is clear that the payroll of foreigners in the global benchmark competition is increasing every year, but though the feeling is one, the truth is that it does relatively controlled, of the 438 players who have played this last NBA season, only 75 were foreigners, a percentage of just over 17%, far from what happens in European competitions, some of which the percentage clearance, or exceeds, and from many years ago-the 50%.

Things do not look as simple as, so that "Europe can not be the quarry of the NBA" , more than a concept limited to our game world actually seems to have a philosophical or socio-economic range, but in any case striking with reality, the present, past and likely future: the big fish eats the small. What basketball means translated into the most powerful countries take the best players of the countries or continents less powerful, more powerful clubs to take players from the clubs less powerful or less powerful clubs draw on players from clubs or even less potent, and ultimately, of schools. Can

basketball end of it?, Can avoid European basketball that the NBA players wear it? For various reasons, it seems somewhat difficult. Instead, it seems possible that European basketball is endowed with mechanisms and structures to get the fact that NBA players do not take away from here very serious detrimental if not collapse. Required, yes, some mechanisms and structures level of protectionism, a concept that European basketball has been getting away with contempt in the last decade.

a mechanism and it works: the clauses. With them at least get it wrong, the least. It does not prevent players go - and in many cases also do it with a high economic risk - but before doing so, with a slight help of NBA franchises, pass box. But such compensation, not even the highest-, does not prevent these players leave a gap difficult to fill. Or impossible.

And so we come to what really would indeed be a revolution: recovery in Europe's own quarries. Form many more players than we are now, or give them more opportunities in our highest competitive level, it still could not avoid the big ones go to the NBA but the cash and income of the clauses would add a more positive effect: we would have many more spares. And we know that the amount just emerging quality.

Frankly, I think the best solution. And probably the most profitable.
